Satoshi's Defense Game Guide

Welcome to **Satoshi's Defense**, a modern adaptation of the ancient Viking strategy game **Hnefatafl**, with a Bitcoin twist. In this game, players take on the roles of **Satoshi**, **Validators**, and **Hackers**. The goal is simple: Protect or capture Satoshi. But strategy is key to securing victory. Here's how to play!

Game Objective

The goal of the game depends on your role. If you're on the **Validator** team, your job is to defend Satoshi and help him reach one of the four secure Bitcoin nodes on the board's corners. If you're on the **Hacker** team, your mission is to capture Satoshi before he escapes. Use strategy, tactics, and a little luck to outmaneuver your opponents!

Game Setup

1. Board Setup

Place Satoshi in the center of the 9x9 board. Surround him with 8 Validators to protect him from the Hackers.

2. Place the Hackers

Position the Hackers on the outer edges of the board. Choose between 12 Hackers for an easier game, or 16 for a more challenging match.

3. Choose Difficulty

Select the game difficulty: **Hard** (16 Hackers) or **Easy** (12 Hackers). Validators must work together to defend Satoshi.

Custom Dice

The game features **custom dice** that dictate the movement and actions of the Validators and Hackers:

  • Validators' Die: +, ฿, [], 1, 2, 3
  • Hackers' Die: -, X, {}:, 1, 2, 3

Each die roll determines the player's actions and movement options for their pieces. Here's how each side affects gameplay:

Validators' Die

  • +: Gain an extra movement or place a blocking move.
  • ฿: Satoshi can move two spaces this turn.
  • []: Defend by blocking an adjacent Hacker.
  • 1, 2, 3: Move the Validator piece 1, 2, or 3 spaces.

Hackers' Die

  • -: Hackers can block the Validator’s next move.
  • X: Set a trap that forces Satoshi to lose a move.
  • {}:: Hackers can capture any Validator within two spaces.
  • 1, 2, 3: Move the Hacker piece 1, 2, or 3 spaces.

How to Play

Follow these steps to start playing **Satoshi's Defense**:

  • 1. The game is turn-based. Validators go first, followed by Hackers.
  • 2. On each turn, players roll the custom dice to determine how many spaces they can move or what actions they can take.
  • 3. Validators must move strategically to block Hackers from surrounding Satoshi, while trying to move him to a corner node.
  • 4. Hackers must attempt to surround Satoshi on all four sides to capture him and win the game.
  • 5. If Satoshi reaches one of the corner nodes, the Validators win.

Optional Game Variations

1. Multiple Satoshis

For an extra challenge, add a second or third Satoshi to the board. The Validators must defend all of them!

2. Time-Limited Moves

Set a timer for each player's move. This adds urgency and increases the strategic intensity of the game.

Strategy Tips

1. For Validators

Keep Satoshi close to the center for as long as possible. The more space between him and the Hackers, the more moves you can make to block them.

2. For Hackers

Use teamwork to coordinate your attacks. Surrounding Satoshi requires precision and planning, so communicate with your fellow Hackers to set traps.
